Downside up (01/06)

Despite a declining business environment due to the gradual withdrawal of the United Nations Mission (from a peak of 12,000 members, the mission is now down to only approximately 150 people), SDV International Logistics in East Timor has managed to adapt by basically reducing its cost.

The excellent financial results shown this year are a proof of the quality of the team and hold bigger promises for the future. Once revenues from the current oil & gas development will start to come in the country and development is expected to kick start. SDV International Logistics is in pole position to benefit from any progress the country will be making in the coming years.

Luxuriously elegant life on board – M/V Orion (10/05)

Building on its experience as an agent to handle the first ever cruise vessel that called on East Timor in 2002, SDV International Logistics in East Timor has been appointed to handle the regular calls of M/V Orion, a cruise vessel that has started calling on Dili and Baucau every 3 weeks, bringing much needed and much welcomed tourists to the shores of East Timor.

The experience has been very satisfactory both for the owners and the top-end passengers of M/V Orion. SDV International Logistics in East Timor has shown once again its capability to constantly adapt to new situations and new requirements despite the difficult working conditions of East Timor.

East Timor operations for seismic survey (03/05)

Early December 2004, SDV East Timor was appointed shipping agent for the first seismic vessel looking for oil and gas exclusively within the East Timorese maritime borders. This highly publicized operation in East Timor and beyond marked the official beginning of an active campaign to fully assess East Timor’s promising potential as an oil producing country.

SV Zephyr-1 arrived in Dili harbor on December 30 in the evening, together with Jalak, her Indonesian chase boat. SDV International Logistics assisted  the captains with the normal clearance process for both vessels and their crew.

December 31, 2004 was a very busy day for SDV East Timor as only one day was allocated for the whole supply operations of both vessels. The operations started early morning with the supply of fresh water, fuel and various other provisions. Both vessels sailed out of Dili harbor on schedule in late afternoon.

The Prime Minister of East Timor, Mr Mari Makatiri, arrived at Dili harbor in late morning to give a speech on board SV-Zephyr 1, then visited the vessel with a delegation of East Timorese and foreign dignitaries.

This operation was a great success for SDV East Timor as all companies involved in the operation praised the efficiency and reactivity of the whole SDV team. No doubt that this successful operation and the future port calls of SV Zephyr-1 and Jalak in Dili will help confirm the status of SDV in East Timor as the most reliable logistics company in this new nation, and help SDV International Logistics establish itself as a credible partner for the nascent local oil and gas industry.
